iFetch VS iFetch Too

The iFetch is arguably the most popular automatic dog ball launcher on the market. They were so successful they came out with 3 products under their name – iFetchiFetch Too, and their latest one, the iFetch Frenzy.

I’ve written reviews for each iFetch already. But because the iFetch and the iFetch Too seem to be the most popular, it only makes sense to compare them head-to-head.

Because to be honest, the iFetch Frenzy just wasn’t their greatest product. After all, it’s not a ball launcher anyways. And you’re probably not too interested in it.

What you really want to know is which is better, the original iFetch or the larger iFetch Too?

So what you’ll find below, is them battling it out in multiple categories. And by the time you finish reading, you’ll know exactly which one is the best for you and your dog.

Ready?

Here we go…

iFetch VS iFetch Too: Who Can Use It?

I put this category first because it’s the most important. And if you don’t know it upfront, you’ll probably waste your time reading the rest of this post

So let’s get this out the way first.

Which dogs can use the iFetch? And which dogs can use the iFetch Too?

The original iFetch is only good for smaller dogs, and maybe medium-sized dogs (as you’ll see why later). The iFetch Too on the other hand, although it was made for large dogs, ANY DOG can use it.

The reason the iFetch Too was even made was that the iFetch was limited to only small dogs. So after several complaints from pet owners who have big dogs, their wishes were granted.

The bottom line is, if you own a large dog, you’re only option is the iFetch Too. On the other hand, if you own a small dog, you can buy either one.

And I’ll explain why right now…

iFetch VS iFetch Too: Tennis Balls

The reason why large dog owners can’t use the original iFetch is because of the size of the tennis balls.

The iFetch uses mini-sized tennis balls (1.5 inches in diameter). These tennis balls can pose a choking hazard to large dogs. But are perfect for smaller ones to chomp on.

The iFetch Too, however, uses standard-sized tennis balls (2.5 inches in diameter). So unless your dog is super tiny, he can play with it safely. These tennis balls work with practically any dog.

When you order the iFetch or the iFetch Too, you’ll get 3 of their tennis balls.

And the good news is, you’re not limited to using just those balls. Any ball of the same size can go in the launcher. So if your pup has a favorite ball, and only plays with that one, make sure you pick the iFetch that it can fit in.

Now let’s get into the fun part…

iFetch VS iFetch Too

iFetch VS iFetch Too: Features and Settings

This is the section you were probably waiting for the entire time – the features!

How does it work?
Which one performs better?
How far does it shoot?
Etc.

And as you’ll see, the iFetch Too completely dominates the iFetch in all aspects.

Let’s start with the regular iFetch first…

The iFetch has 3 distance settings (10 feet, 20 feet, and 30 feet). To pick which one, you simply press the button on the back. Then once you (or your pup) drop a ball in, it’ll rev up for about three seconds, and shoot.

The iFetch Too also has 3 distance settings, but at farther lengths (10 feet, 25 feet, and 40 feet), and it works the exact same. Set the distance by pressing the button on the back. But this time, when you drop a ball in, it shoots almost instantly. Faster than a second!

So clearly, if your dog loves chasing after a long throw, the iFetch Too is your best bet.

Both the iFetch and the iFetch Too also come with a wall adapter. You can use both indoors and outdoors. But here’s a major difference…

To use the iFetch outdoors, you need 6 C batteries.
To use the iFetch Too, you don’t need any. It has a built-in rechargeable battery instead.

This allows you to save a bit of cash. And is overall, just more convenient.

iFetch VS iFetch Too: Safety

As fun as these automatic ball launchers are, you also need to take into consideration its safety.

Every now and then, a customer gets angry because these toys hit their dog in the face. And if you’re not careful, you might be one of them too.

So what do you do?

You’ll need to train them to stand back or to the side. This is necessary for any launcher. Not just the iFetch. Then soon enough, your pup will get it and stay clear of getting hit.

But this isn’t always going to happen.

So you also need to make sure the launcher you buy is safe enough to play with.

And between the two iFetchs, the iFetch Too is the safest.

Here’s why…

It’s safer for two reasons: the iFetch Too is bigger and it shoots faster. Because of its size (3x bigger than iFetch), the ball shoots higher, avoiding your pup. And since it launches the ball almost instantly, your pup won’t have enough time to stand in front of the toy, as long as he drops the ball from behind or the side.

The iFetch, however, because it’s much smaller, the chances of it hitting your dog is higher. And because of its slight delay, he might move around and get too close to the launcher before it shoots.

Therefore, making the iFetch Too the safer of the two.

iFetch VS iFetch Too: Price

By now, you should have a good idea of which iFetch is best for you. But the last thing you need to take into consideration of course, is the price.

As of right now, the iFetch comes to around $115.
While the iFetch Too is just under $200.

Which is more worth it?

It all depends on your dog and your circumstances. As well as which one you think you’ll get the most out of.

If you can’t decide, just scroll back up and look at which iFetch will offer you the best experience.

Aside from that, there is one price advantage that the iFetch Too has over the original iFetch. And that’s that you won’t have to spend extra money on batteries. Because remember, it has a built-in rechargeable battery.
